FAQ's and Shipping Policies

When is the shop updated?

I plan shop updates once a month.  As an independent shop owner this can vary from time to time.  When I have a date set, I post the details on my website and also on my profile page on instagram (sandybythelakeside).

Can I place a custom order?

Unfortunately, I am unable to accommodate special orders or requests. If there is a leather piece you have on your wish list, feel free to send me an email at sandy@bythelakeside.com to let me know and I will try to add it to my list to make in the near future.

Can I combine separate orders for shipping?

Due to the growing size of shop updates, and the recent requirements of additional documentation at US customs, I am no longer able to combine orders for shipping purposes. 

Are you shipping to the US and are there additional tariffs and fees on your goods?

There have been recent changes with the removal of the de minimus exception (where the US previously allowed shipments worth $800 or less to cross the border without tariffs or duties).

The good news is that By the Lakeside bags (both fabric and leather) are made in Canada and are Cusma Certified. This means they are tariff free and do not have any additional fees at time of checkout.

I will be shipping all packages with required documentation. Please note that any additional fees from US customs and border control are your responsibility.

Due to country of origin on notions such as measuring tapes and scissors, these can no longer be shipped to the US.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I ship internationally (with exceptions) and shipping charges will be calculated at time of checkout.  I adhere to customs requirements and cannot mark the package as a gift or falsify the value. 

If you do not see an option to ship to your location, please send me an email at sandy@bythelakeside.com and I will look into the possibility and provide a shipping quote.

Packages may be held by your postal service pending payment of customs fees. Any taxes, duties and/or customs fees charged by your country are your responsibility. 

By the Lakeside is not responsible for non-delivery due to unclaimed packages. Please watch for notification from your postal service or contact them if you suspect your package is being held for customs purposes.

Postage on returned international packages is not refundable.

When do you ship?

All items are ready to ship unless otherwise stated and ship within 5-7 business days from when you place your order.

How long will it take to receive my package?

Shipping times depend greatly on your location, and will vary. Please refer to your shipping confirmation email (all packages are sent with tracking).

There are currently longer wait times for packages entering the US. This is a US customs and border control issue, and unfortunately can't be rushed. 

What is your return policy? 

I hope you will be happy with your purchase and do my best to include descriptive details and photos in all product listings.  If for some reason you're unhappy with your purchase, please contact me within 7 days for a refund (less a 15% restocking fee) once the item is returned.  Please note purchaser bears all shipping return costs.

If you receive a damaged item, please contact me immediately.  If I can offer a replacement, I will do so.  Otherwise a refund will be provided.
